Capturing Shell Cove Through a Different Lens
Building on the success of the PromenART Sculpture walk, a new initiative will launch in 2026 and transform The Waterfront, Shell Cove into a six-week open-air photography gallery, celebrating the people, places, wildlife and landscapes that define our region while creating a new attraction for residents and visitors alike.
Photography has the unique ability to stop people in their tracks. It tells stories, preserves moments and encourages us to see familiar places differently.
Displayed in large-format outdoor installations, the exhibition will encourage visitors to wander the precinct, discover local artists and engage with the stories behind each image.
More than an exhibition, the program is designed as a destination experience.
A dedicated exhibition website will showcase every selected artist, provide interactive maps, artist profiles and an online People's Choice Award, encouraging repeat visitation throughout the exhibition period. QR codes positioned throughout the gallery will connect visitors directly to artist information and voting.
To further activate the precinct, the exhibition will be complemented by live music, artist demonstrations, photography workshops and family-friendly activities, creating a vibrant cultural atmosphere across multiple weekends.
Award categories will include:
-
People's Choice
-
Runner-Up
-
Youth (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
-
Community Capture Award — encouraging visitors to photograph the exhibition and The Waterfront, sharing their own perspective through social media.
